The Haunted Dolls House - Part 1

One of my favourite Bloggers (and writers) is Jenny Lawson aka The Bloggess. She is super smart, super funny, super weird and, as an extra bonus to her brilliant writing (and drawing), she has also been making a Haunted Dolls House for years.

I personally think this is an extremely cool project and one I had recently decided to copy pursue as a form of therapy for some truly awful crap I have been going through for the past few years.

So imagine my delight when I spotted this little piece of slightly spooky decrepitude on someones verge this morning while I was walking the doggies.

Mock Tudor, two story abandoned Dolls House!

Perfection.

Anyhoo, I raced the dogs home, jumped in the car and roared two blocks back to grab it before anyone else could.  Because, of course, people would be lining up to get a piece of this sweet spooky action!

So here's some more shots - no idea what my plans are yet but I think this could be a fun project to work on when stress, anxiety and some of the other fun symptoms come calling.

I particularly love how spooky it already looks!  Like my work is practically done.

This is the sort of house you should definitely not go into, particularly alone and at night. There are some seriously Haunting of Hill House vibes going down all ready I think.

I think I want to do shingles for the roof, add some kind of secret passage and deck it out in some Gothic furniture.

I have a bunch of cheerful, Swedish wooden dolls furniture from my kids old dolls house that I am hoping to transform into some eldritch styles.

I'll try to blog my progress on this and other stuff more regularly.  It's been a hard 12 months...on the back of a few pretty hard years.

Hopefully transforming this into the perfect Horror movie miniature will be the exact type of stress relief this lil Witch needs.

Suggestions for inspiration gladly accepted in comments!

  1. I am totally enchanted with this idea. When the creative juices flow, it attracts magical finds such as this beauty.
