New Moon Binding

Apogee

So last night I performed a binding spell for the New Moon.  It was a variation (and escalation) of one I have performed many times in the past.  The last time I bound this person it worked fantastically well, although it ended up being a much more literal binding that I expected.

The Duke and I are once again having to face this particular adversity and I wanted to ensure my protections and wards were strong.  I also decided to do another binding  and, rather than just repeat the original, I decided to add a stronger simulacrum spell to the binding ritual.

I made the poppet earlier in the year, during spring, using local grasses. I love Hedgewitching in Spring. My suburb is a garden suburb, so it's ridiculously easy to find almost anything you want, just by taking a stroll.

All my preparations went fine, not surprisingly, as I've been planning this working for quite a while.

The son left to go to D&D so he was saved from any embarrassment. The weather has been ridiculously cold for late December in Perth, Western Australia, so I was able to light the fire inside. (There's a total outside fire ban in place now so outside workings are a no no - even though it has been cold and raining for a few days now).

I gathered all my implements and ingredients, got out my Book of Shadows and cast my circle of protection.

So far so good. I performed my Offerings and cast a Protection spell.

As often happens during this first phase my Basenji, Cleo, came and joined me.

She likes to sit inside the Circle, always being very careful not to tread on on break the salt circle. She faces away from me, usually keeping guard by watching the door.

Once I started to move on to the Binding, Cleo quietly stood up, delicately stepped over the salt and out of the Circle and then left the room.

As I began the first stages, I suddenly felt something move against my bare foot.  When I looked down, I saw that my other puppy, Lily, who is only just over a year old, had walked into the circle and was lying on her back, wiggling and happy, while her tail was wagging backwards and forwards, spreading salt everywhere.

Mild panic ensues!  I have to stop, pick up a wiggly, resistant Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy and put her firmly outside the room.  The I have to do some emergency Circle repair using my special super charged Black Salt (which took me almost two months to make using a Walking the Bounds spell, but this is an emergency -this ain't exactly white magic I'm performing here). Then I have to get my head and energy back into the Binding ritual.

Thankfully Spotify came to the rescue.  I like to put on a particular album when I am preparing and then allow the random selections that Spotify provides afterwards to move me through the work.

As I completed the spell, which involved 7 types of binding material, the music suddenly changed and the song that came on was a perfect moment of magical synchronicity.  I can't say what it was, but the name of the artist and the title of the song all mirrored the names of the Bound, the Duke and myself so perfectly that I had the most enormous rush of energy through my body and my whole system was flooded with endorphin

Magic..it's a hell of a drug!
